I replace my Windows laptop with Arch Linux!

6 April 2024

After more than a year with W*ndows laptop, I finally have the courage to replace it with Arch Linux, a distribution of the GNU operating system with the Linux kernel and the systemd init system. In other words, it basically encourage you to "do it yourself", not just clicking around installer like W*ndows, Ubuntu and Mint. According to people who are Arch Linux users, it is supposed to be one of the hardest OS to configure but I don't believe them as they just try to scare us, that's why they say "I uses Arch Linux BTW" every time we talk to them (Hey noobies, I uses Arch Linux by the way!) to express their pride on this. Anyway, the reason I decide to replace this glowie OS with Based Arch Linux is because last week was where my Easter holiday started so this was perfect time to do it. Another reason was that my good friend show me his Arch Linux laptop during our university day and I was greatly impressed at his system (We uses Hyprland in this case). Hyprland is just desktop window manager like KDE, Gnome or Cinnamon in GNU/Linux distros and you can look it up in the Internet to know what does it look like and how does it work. So yeah, I actually love to play around GNU/Linux distros back in my college and to this day too. I did try to install Arch Linux in virtual machine and boy, it was lot of configuration, configuration and configuration but that is the point of GNU/Linux. It is supposed to be this FUN! I won't recommend it to others who is new or completely beginner to GNU/Linux world as it require a bit of knowledge on both Linux commands and hardware. You can have look at my future blogs or knowledge pages somewhere in my website :). I also will create another blog about my thoughts on Arch Linux Hyprland too. See you next time!
